Many of us with Solidarity Research Center (the sponsor of the Municipalism Learning Series and Los Angeles for All projects) will be in attendance at the 2023 Institute for Social Ecology Summer Intensive in Detroit, Michigan from July 7th to 13th, 2023.

This year’s course is hosted in partnership with the James and Grace Lee Boggs Center. The theme is All Power to the People: Social Ecology and the Black Radical Tradition in Today’s Revolutionary Movements.

  • Municipalism Learning Series organizer Mason Herson-Hord will be speaking about social ecology, direct democracy and politics beyond the state, and dual power with Kali Akuno
  • SRC board member Emily Kawano will present on the solidarity economy and what is capitalism with Peter Staudenmaier
  • MLS organizer Eleanor Finley with discuss indigenous values versus capitalist values with Roberto Mendoza, as well as democratic confederalism and the revolution in Rojava with Anya Briy
